IS GOING ABROAD THE SOLUTION TO HIGH COST TO FIRE FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE RETIRE EARLY

I'm seeing a lot of reference to geographic arbitrage as a solution to the high cost of living in the u.s. and as a catalyst to early retirement or better retirement.

I understand someone that wants to live abroad as the adventure part of their plans, but when I see statements like "Things might be different had I stayed in the US, because the costs are so high there,"

A lot of people think its necessary to go abroad to be F.I.R.E. and some people are able to work ON their FIRE while abroad.

Am I the only one that thinks-knows it is absolutely not necessary but its fine if that's what you want for the adventure part of it.

More than 20 years of FI in the states starting from my late 20's gives me that insight.

What are your thoughts on this subject?
